This happened to me with my first Prophecies purchase at Target. I bought 2 copies, for my wife and myself. When I got home I saw the seal on one of the boxes had been carefully opened, and it was missing the CD key that the sealed box had.

Target was very good about letting me exchange it.

its stupid. it is impossible to know if anything is missing before you open the box. and its impossible for the store to know you didn't steal it if you return it opened.

unless you unwrap it right infront of them you can't prove anything :/

Just find your receipt and bring everything back. A lot of places have an electronics policy, especially with CDs, DVDs, computer/video games due to piracy. A lot of places will allow you to make an exchange for the SAME item. Now since GW is an online game which requires an access key, it can go two ways, since they don't know whether or not you actually DID have the key and are trying to get another one or not. Hopefully this won't be the case if you try to returning it. Just try to pick out the dumbest person in the return counter and explain your situation, and hopefully you'll be able to start playing NF.

Best Buy 90% of the time will let you return your SW purchase if it is defective(in this case missing components), they will just have u grab another copy, open it up and send u on ur way...I have had no issues returning PS2, DVD, CD...when they have had scratches etc...as long as its an exchange for the same product there should be no worries

I was in a guild where one guy worked at best buy and he claimed he took out the nightfall cd keys to sell online for gold. I figured he was an idiot and would end up going to jail for gw gold. Then i saw a case of this first hand.
I was at a game stop and noticed that the tamper stickers at the edges had been very carefuly sliced. I brought it to the clerk letting him know someone probably took the cd key out making the game useless. About 2 minutes later i saw him put it back on the shelf with out checking. So either he was careless or a thief. This doesnt sound like what happened to you but just a note for people to look at things like that.

Out of all the Guild Wars chapters i brought. I haven't encounter a box without the access key. I think your best bid is to go back to your retail store and see if they'll take it back. If not, contact A-Net Support and hope for the best.

Sorry you can't get a refund. It says on the package, if you rip the stickers/plastic wrapping you won't be entitled a refund.

GL tho

I've had the problem with a different game. When I returned it Wal-Mart wouldn't give me cash back, but they did give me a gift card worth the same amount. Which because using a Wal-Mart gift card for gas gives me 3 cents off per gallon, it turned out to be an ok deal

my brother had this exact problem with eb games and he took it there to trade for a new one. The guy then checked one game and it turned out to not have a key :P so he believed my brother and found another one that did.
